Benjamin Anarfi-De-Khems is a passionate mathematics teacher, writer, and humorist who firmly believes that maths should be fun, engaging, and—at the very least—survivable.
Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Middlesex University, and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from the University of Plymouth.
With eight years of experience teaching students who would rather do literally anything else, Benjamin has mastered the art of breaking down complex concepts using humour, real-life applications, and a touch of sarcasm to make numbers a little less terrifying.
As a dedicated teacher at Newman Catholic College, he has spent countless hours deciphering the creative (and often ridiculous) excuses students come up with to escape maths—an experience that ultimately inspired this book. Blending comedy with education, Maths Is Not Hot is his hilarious take on the universal struggle of students vs. numbers.
When he’s not trying to convince students that Pythagoras' theorem isn’t a personal attack, Benjamin enjoys playing football, researching, reading, traveling, watching Lord Sugar’s The Apprentice and Dragon’s Den, spending time with family, and coming up with new ways to make maths less terrifying.
Though this is his first book (but watch out for his second—coming soon!), he has been a regular contributor to the Newman Magazine, and he hopes it brings laughter, a sigh of relief, and maybe—just maybe—a little appreciation for maths. But hey, no pressure!
After nearly twenty years in the pub industry it was time to let my imagination run free and see if anyone would like the universe i created.
